Dr. LIz Alexander

Bio

Dr Liz Alexander is the author of ten non-fiction books that, collectively, have sold close to half a million copies in more than 14 global markets. A former freelance journalist on both sides of the Atlantic, she has written hundreds of articles for publications ranging from British Airways’ Business Life magazine and Harvard Business Press newsletters to Human Resources and Training magazines. She is a former editor of Success Now magazine in the UK and has had several short stories published. Dr. Liz was a BBC TV presenter prior to immigrating to the US in 2001, at which time she began offering book proposal coaching and non-fiction writing coaching to clients in California and the UK.

While completing her doctorate in educational psychology from 2003-2008, Dr. Liz worked at The University of Texas at Austin in various marketing capacities. While at UT she co-authored two graduate student “toolkits,” and designed workshops aimed at helping students discover and capitalize on their strengths. Before re-inventing herself as a Book Doula, Dr. Liz designed marketing campaigns and supervised a team of career coaches for UT’s College of Liberal Arts. She lives in Austin, Texas with her 90 lb black Labrador, Buffy, and is currently working on her first novel.

"Liz’s coaching got me to rethink my career path to date and focus on what I was passionate about. Her support and own personal passion for her work provided me with the much needed motivation to pursue my lifelong dream of being a writer. Working with her opened up my eyes to what I truly wanted to achieve in my life and I know my success is, at least in part, attributable to the insight she provided me." ~ Clare Langley-Hawthorne, Author

"Dr Liz was by far one of the best speakers I have ever seen at the MBC, our weekly speaker's breakfast club. She captivated our audience and had them doing things (like singing) that I have never seen before in all my experience with the MBC! But more than that, Liz KNOWS her stuff. Do you want to publish your nonfiction book? Don't know where to start? Well, you do now. The "Book Doula" lives up to her name, and then some. I highly recommend Liz as a speaker or consultant in this field." ~ Lamar Romero, Romero Capital & Funding, Austin, TX.
